At São Paulo the Maurice Gray company gave only 1 performance of each work in their repertory. It went on to give Carmen in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, and in 1882 in New York and Montreal.

Loewenberg’s Annals of Opera gives the premiere date as 23 May. This is not correct. Other singers: Grégoire (F), Merle (Mer), Nigri (Z), Poyard (DanC), Perret (R), Mussy (Mor), Borel (LP), Mellet (Guide).
